My name is Karen Evers, known as Kary. For the ones that don't know me. I'm originally from Curacao and came to Holland for my studies. Since last year I developed this intrest for travelling, since then I started my journey towards exploring the world.
From now on my trips are going to be a little bit different than before. I'm more driven by cultures, people, I want to feel and experience the everyday life, the real thing. So don't forget to check out my blogs and feel free to leave comments or ask questions......

All around in Istanbul

Turkey From Turkey on May 25, 2008

To the Topkapi Palace! The Topkapi Palace is a palace in Istanbul which was the official and primary residence in the city of the Ottoman Sultans from 1465 to 1853. The palace was a setting for state occasions and royal entertainments. It was really beautiful. You could see the Sultans dresses and jewelry. Too bad we werent alowed to take pictures.

We also visited the Netherlands Institute, we had a lecture about the influence of the byzantine empire. After that we did some shopping in Taksim and had dinner with the professor afterwards at Mavi-zade. After the dinner we decided to walk back to Sulthanamet. I would really reconsider it if I had the chance. We walked for over one hour and all I could see was the walls of Constantinople.

Istanbul Universitesi, Facultesi Hukuk. The university was very classic, a typical American University at the entrance. We had a lecture by the youngest professor of the university about the Influence of the Ottoman empire and the Islamic law. After that we had our own little foto shoot on Campus...much fun. Si!
